Infra Construction joins International Coastal Clean Up
On Sunday, 23 Oct 2022, Infra Construction along with colleagues from other companies within the Jada Group, joined the Caribbean Youth Environment Network in their International Coastal Clean Up.
The team met at Oistins at 6:30am and spent the morning collecting, documenting, and disposing of trash and garbage along the beach and in the Oistins Boatyard, which included plastic bottles, caps, cigarette butts and boxes, empty fast food containers and unfortunately more.
Leading the charge on this initiative, Infra Construction’s Commercial Manager, Tony Latchman shared, “It’s really important for us to not only donate funds, but to show up and participate in causes like this. The preservation and maintenance of the island’s environment, particularly our beaches and coastline, is something we all at Infra Construction consider a top priority for our national infrastructure.”
General Manager, Sean Cox, agreed adding, “It was really good to be a part of the clean up this morning. Being out as a team together like this is something we definitely will be doing more of. Whether it is building breakwaters or picking up trash, we’ll be there. This is why we are here.”
Members of staff, along with their families, worked to ensure the trash was both collected, and documented so the data can be analysed and used in further research by the Environmental Protection Department and the Coastal Zone Management Unit.
Infra Construction also donated $1000 to go towards bags, gloves and other materials for the International Coast Clean-Up 2022. which took place from September 17 to October 23 at various beaches across the island.
